CAD: from profiles to reviewable technical geometry
Define units, dimensions and review criteria before creating or editing geometry.
Define primary dimensions
Record units, overall dimensions, interfaces and permitted changes. A description such as “bracket” is insufficient: establish width, height, thickness and hole positions from the actual requirements.
Build and inspect incrementally
Work from profiles to 3D solids, inspecting each operation before adding the next detail. Change viewpoints and verify dimensions rather than judging appearance alone. Keep a prior version before major changes for comparison and recovery.
Validate the handoff file
Choose an export format supported by both the application and receiving tool. Reopen the file to check units, scale and geometry. A visual model does not replace structural calculations, tolerance checks or fabrication approval.
